The acoustic violin in the baroque style exists for over 500 years. There has been very little change to it. The conceptual design of the "Gavari" Violin is created for the 21st century and presents a new modern shape. The antiquated characteristics were replaced by abstracting the baroque stylistic elements, getting an explicit and minimalism design.
The new concept was created in co-operation with a Viennese violin maker. He disclosed all important dimensions and sound criterias. Accordingly the geometrical curvatures and material thickness of the cover and soil have been retained unchanged. As well the important orienting points for playability persits the same. The dimensions are like a 4/4 violin of Guarneri.
Inspired by analogies, like the formal aesthetics of boats and yachts of the 50s, as much feminine curves as the formal transfer of sundry corset outlines from the Baroque, Rococo and Biedermeier, the significant violin imagery could be maintained.
That applies to the resonanting body, also to their components, like tailpiece, bridge and string end. It was a challenge to create this new modern form for the 21st century, maybe it changes the classical music business.
