Beds
A bed normally is a very personal place, but located in a gallery as a part of the Pixel Hotel it is also a showpiece, of course. Designed by Thomas Feichtner
Therefore the bed has a sculptural character. One sleeps not near the ground but raised one meter above the ground and slightly hidden behind three back rests. One may retreat to it like a child retreating into a tree house. Thomas Feichtner describes the bed as a flower with petals and draws parallels to the children’s TV series “Maya the Bee“ from his childhood years, the seventies. In the animated TV series Maya the Bee curls up in a blossom to sleep. This was the most beautiful and quietest place Thomas Feichtner could imagine in those days. Therefore the bed was named Maya’s Bed.
