2 Austrian Design Studios Make It Into DMY Berlin Design Awards Top 3

For the first time, DMY Berlin, the organizers of the International Design Festival Berlin, joined forces with the Bauhaus-Archiv/Museum für Gestaltung to award the most outstanding projects among all exhibits of this year's edition of the popular festival. The festival jury was allowed to select three winners from a shortlist of the 10 best. Fresh Austrian Design Visits Milan

From 22 to 27 April 2009, renowned gallery 'O in Milan's emerging "Zona Isola" is hosting the Austrian air-filled design show GD2D+PD3D, fresh air by PureAustrianDesign. An installation developed together with gallery owner Sara Serigelli adds the two dimensions of the exhibited graphic design and the three dimensions of product design a fourth one. The exhibition and opening on 21 April is expected to be an airy highlight of the entire program offered during Milan design fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile. On Friday, 3 October, the installation PureAustrianDesign IN THE CITY was unveiled in the main court of the MuseumsQuartier Vienna. For three days an oversized bubble served the austrian furniture industry as a showroom to present furniture design to the Viennese public.

On Friday, 3 October the installation PureAustrianDesign IN THE CITY was unveiled as the first highlight of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK after its official opening. Numerous guests who braved the foul weather came to MuseumsQuartier at 2 p.m. to assist at the unveiling of this extraordinary object, jointly produced by the austrian furniture industry and design studio JULAND BarcelonaVienna.

Markus Wiesner, chairman of the austrian furniture industry, and Julia Taubinger from JULAND BarcelonaVienna together expressed their satisfaction to present Austrian quality design at a prominent place in Vienna after a series of PureAustrianDesign exhibitions abroad, which had brought design products of the participating furniture companies to international hotspots like Prague, Barcelona, London, New York and Zurich.

Embedded in an artificial design skyline of Vienna, current and modern furniture by the companies Bene, Conform, Joka, Blaha, Viteo, Team 7, Wiesner-Hager and Wittmann is highlighted turning it into attractive city icons. During the Long Night of the Museums on 4 October, the nearly five meters high illuminated installation became a bright and shining center of attraction in the courtyard between the museums.

The airy installation is still to be seen until Sunday, 5 October at 5 p.m. Beyond the duration of the installation, posters with furniture from the companies participating at "PureAustrianDesign IN THE CITY" are represented in the city famous CityLights at strategic points in Vienna's downtown area. The posters, which shall appeal to a wider public, remain in Vienna's streets until 15 October.

Much fresh air is to be expected, in the form of a fresh gust of design wind from Austria. GD2D+PD3D, fresh air by PureAustrianDesign is a itinerant exhibition that brings along outstanding, extraordinary and unusual works of contemporary graphic and product design from Austria.
