Vienna To Sit On
Huge, inflated letters in bright Vienna-red, which correctly read add up to the term "WIEN“ (VIENNA), stand on the exhibition area. They divide the space and invite the visitors to sit on. The very design products are displayed on large platforms. 40 m² are available to stage the 6 outstanding design studios from Vienna with their creations: Element Design, Eva Kim Heu, Destilat, Rainer Mutsch design, bkm - design working group and svpd - sonja vrbovsky product design. Element Design's table lamp „Celebrity“ will be one of the attractions of this show. Eva Kim Heu, already present in Tokyo last year, shows her successful hat series "hatcap" and "hatdisk." Destilat comes with a light cube which - in a very particular way - brings a cosy ambience into your living room. Rainer Mutsch's edgy chairs contrast with the softer, swinging forms of the lamp "Beside" and chair icon "falb" by bkm-design working group. With the folding stool "flat mate", the portable rubber boots "easy wellies," the fence-friendly water bottle "fency drinking" and the 3D placemats "bloom bloom", Sonja Vrbovsky presents four products that pretty ironically re-interpret common utility patterns.

Further design products from Vienna are offered for sale in a separate shop, like the glass series "alpha" by Lobmeyr, Ryker plates by Lucy.d, table accessories by guggenbichler design, vases by FeineDinge* and a tableware set specially put together by mano design for this event. T-shirts with graphic motifs of Vienna by MotMot complete the sales mix.

Creative Vienna
The aim of the show "ViennaSelectedDesign" is to edge modern Vienna and its contemporary supply of innovative creativity closer to the spotlight. „Creative Vienna“ is a surprise effect for many visitors when arriving in Vienna for the first time. So it's all about this message to reach Tokyo. Already last year, the design platform PureAustrianDesign initiated by JULAND BarcelonaVienna was present in the framework of "Blickfang" during the designer's week in Tokyo. To spotlight this year Vienna as a design hotspot in Austria and especially to avoid the confusion in Asia between the terms "Austrian" and "Australian", it was envisioned to focus the communication on Vienna as a creative metropolis in Austria.

Blickfang in Tokyo and ViennaSelectedDesign
Blickfang Tokyo, where "ViennaSelectedDesign" is represented, features product and fashion designers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As one of the platforms for European design in Tokyo Blickfang boosts the international dimension of the Tokyo Designer's Week. As a group exhibition ViennaSelectedDesign shows Vienna's contribution to the European product and furniture design.
