“GD2D+PD3D, fresh AIR by PureAustrianDesign” Attracted Many People At Sofia Design Week
One of the first events to open at this year’s Sofia Design Week was the GD2D+PD3D exhibition in Bulgaria’s National Gallery for Foreign Art on June 13. Around 120 guests attended the opening party making it a big success. International design prominence and the domestic design scene enjoyed a fresh breeze of air from Austria materialized in select pieces of graphic and product design in and on air-filled bubbles. Celebrities from the fields of culture, economy and politics showed up, praising the extraordinary exhibition concept as well as the freshness and the quality of the exhibited works.
Guests were very impressed by the exhibition architecture and the high quality of the design selection from Austria. In his opening speech, the Austrian cultural attache in Bulgaria Mr. Wolfgang Kutschera pointed out the continuous promotion of Austrian design that JULAND BarcelonaVienna has been making for years with the exhibitions. Alongside Julia Taubinger and Andrés Fredes, curators of the exhibition and founders of studio JULAND BarcelonaVienna, Bulgarian, Vienna-dwelling industrial designer and curator of the Sofia Design Week Valentin Vodev and a representative from the cultural sector of the Bulgarian government also spoke some words, welcoming the guests.
Top designers like Konstantin Grcic, Matali Crasset, Johanna Agerman, Design Marketo, Mr.Clement, Nelly Ben Hayoun and German designer Sven Rudolph (Ding3000) were among the colourful crowd strolling between the air-filled bubbles and testing the 3D glasses. Austria’s design scene was represented by designers like Thomas Feichtner and Katrin Radanitsch from design studio dottings.
