AUSTRIANTRADE To Organize Future Journey Design to The Netherlands

In October 2009, the Netherlands will become the centre of the European creative industries featuring two highlights: The Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven and the International Architecture Biennial in Rotterdam. From 18 to 22 October 2009, on the occasion of these two leading international events, AUSTRIANTRADE (AWO) together with the Trade Commission from The Hague organizes a future journey design, architecture and multimedia to the Netherlands for Austrian entrepreneurs from the creative industries.

The aim of this market sounding journey is to approach first-hand information on the latest trends and developments in the international market for design, architecture and multi-media to Austrian designers, architects and entrepreneurs from the creative industries, to support them to build up profitable business contacts abroad, and to help them identify opportunities for the export of products and services.

Since October 2005, AUSTRIANTRADE has been organizing specialized journeys to the future "hot spots" of the creative industries on a regular base, among others, to New York, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Milan and Tokyo.

Programme
The 3-day agenda starts with the visit to the Media Park in Hilversum, the centre of the Dutch audio-visual multi-media industry. On the 36-acre grounds of the park 200 media-related enterprises with a total of 4,500 employees are housed. Among other things, the world's most successful formats, „Big Brother“ and „Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten“ were developed here. A further highlight is the recently opened Institute for Sound and Image, the world's largest media museum. On the way to Rotterdam, the highly interesting Materia Inspiration Center in Enter will be attended in the afternoon.

On the second day the journey goes to Rotterdam where a visit to the 4th International Architecture Biennial is on schedule. Titled "Open City: Designing Coexistence", it is about how architects and city planners can actively and concretely help stimulate social, cultural and economic coexistence. Another item is the visit to the Kunsthal Rotterdam, an art exhibition hall built by the world-famous architect Rem Koolhaas.

The journey ends in Eindhoven, where the Dutch Design Week will be held. In about 50 different locations some 1,500 designers from home and abroad will showcase their creations in the fields of furniture and interiors, fashion and industrial design. The centre of the festival is Strijp-S, the former Philips complex, which is now being developed to a "creative city". In the afternoon the workshop Dutch-Austrian Design Exchange will take place, giving the participants the possibility to briefly present their own activities and offering contacts with local interested parties, subsequently. The programme still is subject to change.

Registration
For the best networking results and to guarantee a professional handling the future journey is limited to 20 participants. Therefore, the completed registration form should be submitted as soon as possible by 8 July 2009.
