Downtown Vienna Design Studios and Workshops Open Doors at “Designpfad”

"Designpfad" (Design Trail) is taking place in downtown Vienna already in early May this year. The theme is "Design oder nicht sein", a pun in German that approaches the broad topic of design to the general public. From 6 to 8 May, the “Designpfad” helps to blaze the trail through workshops and studios in Vienna's 7th and 8th District.

During three days, 18 stations of "Designpfad" offer specially designed programs. They give a broad insight into the work of Viennese designers and artists established in these inner-city districts. On display are exhibits, performances, installations, film, workshops, ceramic art, interior design and furniture design, fashion, textile and jewelry design, graphic, corporate and web design, etc. Hot tips are the workshops of Renate Hattinger and Bonanza as well as the light/furniture exhibition by destilat at Franke Leuchten.
The event aims to draw attention to domestic creativity. It is given to re-position and revitalize these creative quarters behind the MuseumsQuartier, Vienna's famous cultural hub, “Designpfad” organizer Daniel Sverak says, as these are deeply rooted in Viennese design tradition. The 7th district Neubau was the home of Wiener Werkstätte at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Club 7 Kulturverein Neubau, based in the 7th Vienna District, is organizing this 12th “Designpfad” in cooperation with Künstler-/DesignerInnen, galleries and institutions of the participating districts.
Admission for all events is free.
