On Wednesday, November 19th, haptic interface designer Masayo Ave will hold a lecture at designforumMQ where she presents methods and approaches in her design work focusing on the role tactile experience plays in connection with industrial goods.

Masayo Ave, Japanese architect and designer, professor of product design at the Estonian Academy of Arts and founder of the Haptic Interface Design Institute in Berlin, has been actively working for over twenty years in haptic design that she combines with technology and the sense of touch. Masayo Ave's design compels through its haptic-emotional quality. Selected materials and unusual surfaces animate the observer to discover and touch the objects. The scope of her work ranges from garden design, furniture, lighting, textiles, packaging to product design.
Masayo Ave is in Vienna from 17 to 20 November 2008 by invitation of the University of Applied Arts where she holds the workshop "Haptic Interface Design, MAKE-DO your favorite story Haptic". Her lecture at designforumMQ will unveil methods and solutions of her design work. The central question is in which form tactile experience plays a role in industrial goods.
