designforumMQ in Museumsquartier Vienna hosts the exhibition "impulse on the spot - creativity. projects. support 2004 - 2008" which features exemplary highlights on the activities of the federal support programme for the creative industries impulse - the former ImpulsProgramm creativwirtschaft of austria wirtschaftsservice (aws).

Through objects, multi-screen video presentations, sound boxes, and an interactive „info-bar“, the exhibition brings home the innovation of the domestic creative industries.

The range of the presented innovations - supported by impulse - includes "wearable communication", playful media installations for stroke patients, children accessible product design, online game worlds, a download store for electronic music and outdoor-proof furniture design.

Graphic signage guides through the exhibition. Equipped with "smart" visitor cards with RF-ID chips, visitors can shoot photos of themselves and exhibits that are automatically uploaded to a personal impulse – site.

The keynote speech during the opening ceremony will be held by Wolf Lotter, founder of the business magazine brand eins. Under the title "How to learn to love the mentally disordered" he will focus on the active contribution of creativity today. „We live on ideas, we recognize that they are more important than products and goods, we implore the knowledge society, and still remain in the old established patterns. Who says creative industries, must also say 'creatives', and finally start not to consider the work of creatives as the creation of 'slightly disturbed geniuses', but as a basis for prosperity and development in the 21st Century.“
